Pillars of Change

Our approach is based on six foundational pillars which we will use to build a roadmap for change within the yoga community. Each pillar is rooted in deep listening and understanding of the community needs, before taking action, and we hope that studio owners and yoga teachers from cities around the country will join us with their actions, research and input.

Ownership Commitment

Studio owners demonstrate their commitment to having a diverse teaching team and student membership base. Studio environments are inclusive and equitable.

Teacher Trainings

Create equitable ways for 200-hour teacher training to increase diversity of teachers. Additionally, evaluate content for YTT to ensure accessiblity for a more diverse lens.

Marketing & Communication

Commit to marketing and highlighting diverse representation of teachers and students. Be consciously inclusive with language and communication of the practice, its benefits and adherence to the teachings.

Measurement

Leverage metrics to assess diversity of student membership base, support diversifying social media and marketing materials, and to support and guide building intentional workshops and programs.

Programs & Workshops

Provide programs and workshops that promote diversity within the practice.

Community Engagement & Outreach

Work collaboratively with a diverse community to expand the reach of yoga.
